In January 1962, an officer in Hawaii reported seeing an object that appeared to be the size and brightness of a planet. The object appeared suddenly and disappeared over the horizon on a southwest to northeast trajectory. It was estimated to be traveling at twice the speed of the Echo satellite, which raised some concern.
