Summary

In January 1962, a military observation recorded nine blue-green objects over the Atlantic near 38°30'N and 74°20'W. They were described as having the brightness of first and second magnitude stars, with red halos and moving in random patterns at medium to high altitudes. Although the initial report suggested they could be satellites or astronomical phenomena, these were ruled out. Ultimately, it was concluded they were likely aircraft due to the proximity of military bases such as Langley AFB and the Norfolk Naval Air Station.

The report notes that the objects varied in brightness and direction, following courses toward the northeast, east, southeast, and south, all under a cloudy sky. Despite the lack of photographs and incomplete data, the description and location supported the hypothesis of conventional aerial activity. However, the unusual nature of the objects and their behavior remains intriguing for researchers of unexplained aerial phenomena.
