Summary

In January 1962, five members of an amateur astronomy club in Miami observed four disc-shaped objects flying in a diamond-like formation. The objects, ranging from reddish-yellow to reddish-orange, passed almost directly overhead at high speed, moving from the constellation Gemini to the northern horizon in just 20 seconds. Two witnesses described them as a hazy line that split into distinct shapes. Although photos were taken, the official evaluation concluded the sighting was likely misidentified aircraft lights. However, the detailed description and precise formation left some room for doubt.

The observers, young and astronomy enthusiasts, used telescopes and binoculars to document the event. Despite no radar confirmation or military activity in the area, the speed and trajectory of the objects raised questions. The blurry photo was analyzed by military experts, who didn’t entirely rule out a non-conventional aerial phenomenon. The case was filed as probable aircraft, but the witnesses’ account and lack of alternative explanations make it a curious piece of 1960s UFO lore.
