🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In February 1962, two witnesses in Mobile, Alabama, observed a reddish glowing object above the horizon. The phenomenon occurred shortly after sunset and lasted a few minutes. One witness described it as a ball that changed shape, while the other insisted it remained spherical. Despite conflicting descriptions, the official report attributed the sighting to Venus, whose position matched the observation. The object's disappearance was explained as an optical illusion or atmospheric refraction.
The case was investigated by an Air Force officer who interviewed the witnesses and verified weather conditions. Although there were no photos or radar data, the conclusion was that there were no signs of supernatural or unknown technology. The witnesses, a fisherman and another civilian, agreed on basic details, though one mentioned the object vanished as if surrounded by fog. The final report closed the case as a common astronomical event.
