🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In February 1962, an observer in the Philippines reported a bright object believed to be a satellite. It was seen for seven minutes, appearing about half the size and brightness of the star Betelgeuse. The object appeared at an altitude of 46° and moved southeast before disappearing into haze at 21°. Although balloon and aircraft explanations were considered, no definitive identification was made. The report, classified under Project 10073, shows how military personnel documented such events with precision.
Weather conditions were ideal for observation: dark night, clear skies, and light winds. Despite detailed attention, the object remained unidentified. This case reflects the curiosity and rigor with which unexplained aerial phenomena were studied in the 1960s.
