Summary

In March 1962, an observer in Rivera, Turkey, reported an object resembling the Echo I satellite. The object appeared at 16:45 and disappeared at 17:05, remaining visible for 20 minutes. The observer described it as having one-third to one-fourth the brightness of a star and making shallow turns in both directions with unsteady blinking lights. Although several explanations such as balloons or aircraft were considered, there was not enough information to confirm any. The lack of altitude and speed data made any precise evaluation difficult.

The duration of the observation was unusually long for an aircraft, increasing the suspicion that it might have been a high-flying balloon with lights. However, air traffic information could not be verified, and no wind data was provided. The report concluded that there was insufficient data for a conclusive evaluation, leaving the sighting unresolved. This case is part of the many UFO reports the U.S. Air Force recorded during the Cold War.
