In March 1962, a 10-year-old boy in East Orange, New Jersey, reported seeing several lights in the sky. He first heard a loud noise and then saw a light moving in a straight line from northeast to southwest. The light disappeared after about three minutes, but he then saw three more lights. The sky was clear with a full moon, which made the observation possible. Despite the witness's young age, the report details his experience with accuracy.
The Air Force technical report includes detailed questions about sky conditions, the duration of the observation, and descriptions of the objects. The child could not estimate the distance or speed of the objects but described their movement and brightness. Although the nature of the objects was not clearly identified, the possibility of an aircraft was considered. The testimony, though brief, shows how even young observers can provide valuable information about unidentified aerial phenomena.
