🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In April 1962, a pilot reported observing an unidentified object north of his aircraft while flying over the Pacific Ocean. The object appeared at 31 degrees above the horizon and moved east for 10 minutes. Although no photos were taken, the report noted no evidence that it was a balloon, aircraft, or astronomical phenomenon. Authorities evaluated it as non-threatening, suggesting it could have been a satellite. The case was shared with multiple military and intelligence agencies but no definitive conclusion was reached.
The report, part of Project 10073, was classified as "no threat" and filed as information only. Despite the lack of conclusive data, the pilot's testimony and the duration of the sighting generated some interest at the time. Such reports were common in the 1960s, when space and air activity were on the rise, and any unidentified object sparked curiosity and occasional concern.
