🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In May 1960, a witness reported a white object that appeared to be a satellite, observed for 15 minutes before disappearing behind clouds. The location was recorded as 30°30'N 174°17'E, with a bearing of 130°. Although the initial report evaluated it as a radar echo (Echo I), no definitive conclusion was reached. The object was seen at a high altitude and in a clear direction, generating some confusion about its nature. The sighting was documented by the U.S. Air Force and shared with multiple military units, indicating official interest in the phenomenon.
The exchanged messages between different military commands show that this was a serious observation, though without conclusive evidence. The lack of photographs and the brief duration of the sighting made further evaluation difficult. Although several explanations, such as balloons or aircraft, were considered, the report did not rule out the possibility of an unidentified object. This case reflects the complexity of interpreting aerial observations during a time of intense space and military activity.
