Summary

In May 1962, an unidentified object was observed for over nine hours above New Mexico. Witnesses included air traffic control personnel and a pilot, who reported a bright, fixed light at high altitude. From Albuquerque, it was estimated to be 20 to 25 degrees above the horizon, while from Las Vegas, Nevada, it appeared directly overhead. The light showed slight movement toward the northeast during the day but returned to its original position. It was observed as white during the day, pink at sunset, and dark at night.

The report included visual and electronic observations, with air traffic control personnel using 7x30 binoculars. Despite multiple observations and confirmations, no conclusive explanation was reached. Explanations such as balloons, aircraft, or astronomical phenomena were dismissed. The report was classified as unexplained, and witnesses were considered highly reliable. This case remains one of the unresolved mysteries of the UFO observation project.
