🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In June 1962, a witness in southwest Canada reported an object resembling a weather balloon. It was estimated to be the size of a basketball at arm's length and moving southward. The observer watched it for four minutes using 10x50 binoculars, which led to some confusion about its actual size. Although initially considered a balloon, its movement direction did not match the prevailing winds, raising doubts. Ultimately, it was concluded to be likely a balloon, though no definitive confirmation was made.
The official investigation found no conclusive evidence that the object was a conventional aerial phenomenon. Other possibilities such as aircraft or astronomical events were ruled out. The report noted that the use of binoculars may have influenced the perception of the object's size. Despite observing it for four minutes, this time was insufficient to accurately determine its trajectory or nature. The case was closed without a definitive explanation, but it was considered likely a weather balloon.
