🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In June 1962, two military veterans at Lockbourne AFB, Ohio, reported seeing a golden or light orange object near the horizon. The object hovered briefly before moving rapidly eastward. The witnesses, experienced in airfield operations, described it as circular with a concave edge, approximately 2 inches in diameter. The sighting lasted about 15 seconds, raising questions about its nature.
The official evaluation suggested it might be a refraction of the star Marfak, given the matching direction and the short duration. However, the witnesses couldn't identify it as a star, leaving other explanations open. Despite follow-up investigations with control towers and local authorities, no clear explanation was found. The report emphasizes the witnesses' reliability and the possibility of atmospheric phenomena causing the sighting.
