🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In June 1962, the USS Mathews reported a bright object on the horizon that appeared like an extremely luminous planet. The object, described as pear-shaped and brighter than Venus, was observed for over five hours. Despite its unusual appearance, it caused no interference with radar or radio. Officials initially considered it an astronomical phenomenon, but its odd behavior raised doubts.
The ship recorded how the object alternated between disappearing and reappearing, rapidly increasing in altitude. As its brightness decreased, a white glow formed around the center. Although it was eventually concluded that it might be the star Formalhaut, the description and movement didn't fully match expectations. Atmospheric distortion was cited as a possible cause, but the sighting remains intriguing for UFO researchers.
