Summary

In June 1962, a military aircraft observed a luminous phenomenon that caught the attention of both pilot and co-pilot. The object appeared 5 degrees to the right of the aircraft's nose at an elevation of 30 to 45 degrees. As it moved to the left, it increased in brightness and displayed an unusually long flaming tail. The pilot described the object as descending from a northerly direction at a speed similar to a falling star. After it burned out, a second black object appeared near its tail. The aircraft was en route with a heading of 225 degrees, and the sighting lasted between 3 and 5 seconds.

Military personnel concluded the phenomenon had characteristics of a meteor, although other possibilities were not ruled out. The report, classified under Project 10073, was shared with multiple military and intelligence agencies. Despite the brief sighting, the details aligned with those of a common meteor. No photographs or additional data were recorded to allow for a more precise evaluation. The case remains an example of how aerial sightings are often explained by natural phenomena.
