In 1962, a citizen of North Brunswick, New Jersey, reported an unidentified flying object. The document, part of Air Force archives, shows that the witness was asked to complete a detailed questionnaire to gather more information. Although the testimony does not include clear visual descriptions, the authorities' interest reflects the seriousness with which sightings were treated at the time. The questionnaire requested data such as time, location, duration of observation, and characteristics of the object, in order to evaluate whether it had a conventional explanation.
The document also includes instructions for the witness to describe the object using everyday examples, suggesting that an accessible understanding of the observation was sought. Despite the lack of concrete answers, the fact that the Air Force took note of this sighting illustrates the importance given to reports of unidentified aerial phenomena during the Cold War.
