Summary

In July 1962, a man in Saugatuck, Michigan, observed a bright object in the sky that appeared to have satellite-like characteristics. He saw it three times, each for about a minute, moving steadily from east to west. The object had two colors—red in front and white in the back—and covered an arc of 25 to 30 degrees. Initially mistaken for a meteor, he soon realized its trajectory and speed were unusual. The witness, a former employee with a top-secret clearance, calculated the object would orbit Earth in 13 or 14 minutes, far faster than any known satellite. Its west-to-east movement also contradicted typical satellite orbits. Despite his background, he couldn't identify the object.

The official response concluded there was insufficient data for evaluation. Authorities requested more information, but the witness did not reply. The description suggests it could have been an astronomical event or an unusual meteor, but no definitive explanation exists. The case remains unsolved, like many from that era.
