🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1962, a crew in the Pacific reported an unidentified object resembling a second-magnitude star. The object was observed by the officer of the deck and lookouts, who confirmed its presence. Changes in the object's position were recorded with precise elevation and direction details. Although no photos were taken, satellite data was unavailable, and the case was concluded as possibly a satellite. The object disappeared behind clouds, creating some uncertainty about its nature.
The report was shared with multiple military and intelligence agencies, including NORAD and the CIA. Although balloon, aircraft, and astronomical explanations were considered, they were dismissed due to the consistency of the observed data. This case is an example of how UFO reports were taken seriously during the Cold War, even when a clear identification was not achieved.
