🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1962, a U.S. Navy officer reported a unidentified object appearing in the sky at 7.5 degrees elevation and disappearing in clouds near the horizon. The object, described as white and the size of a pinpoint, was observed for 25 minutes. Although not picked up on radar, witnesses considered the sighting reliable. It was concluded that it could be a satellite, as it matched orbital characteristics known at the time.
The exact location of the sighting was at coordinates 18.25N 055.7W, on a clear moonlit night. The commanding officer confirmed the observation, and witnesses had prior experience with satellites. Despite the lack of radar data, it was recorded as a valid satellite observation, reflecting the uncertainty of the era regarding objects in orbit.
