🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In August 1962, a luminous object was sighted over Managua, Nicaragua, generating multiple reports and speculation. Witnesses described it as a silent, rapidly moving object with a horizontal trajectory and a bright trail resembling chemical propulsion. Some mistook it for a meteor, while others speculated it could be Soviet astronauts. The sightings reached local newspapers and generated some alarm, although no official confirmation was given. The duration of the event was not recorded with precision, and the scattered data made a conclusive evaluation difficult.
The reports partially contradicted each other: some mentioned an explosion near the coast, others did not. The low altitude of the object ruled out a space vehicle, but it was not identified as a balloon or aircraft either. Local authorities could not determine its nature, and the telegrams sent to the United States reflected the uncertainty. Despite the lack of clear evidence, the case was included in military files under the classification SCP-3, indicating it was not a priority. The mystery remains, like so many others in the history of UFOs.
