🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In August 1962, an observer in Perkin, Texas, reported two aerial objects traveling side by side. To the naked eye, the objects appeared round and shone with a brightness similar to Saturn. Through a 2¾-inch telescope with a 120-power Barlow lens, the objects appeared square, causing confusion. The formation and course remained unchanged for the eight minutes of observation, suggesting a conventional explanation.
The official evaluation concluded it was an aircraft, as the flight characteristics and formation were consistent with a normal sighting. Although no photos were taken, the report noted that optical conditions were conducive to misidentification. This case was classified as an aircraft sighting, ruling out other possibilities like balloons or astronomical phenomena.
