Summary

In August 1952, a witness on Orcas Island, Washington, observed four bright lights arranged in a straight line, hovering motionless in the sky. The lights were a few miles away, near the horizon. Two of them descended and disappeared, and later all four vanished. Soon after, one light returned but also disappeared as before. The official report suggested an astronomical explanation, but no celestial bodies of sufficient brightness were in the correct position at the time. A possible reflection of ground lights on an inversion layer was also considered, but no evidence of such conditions was found. Due to insufficient data, the case was deemed inconclusive.

The witness, a 14-year-old boy from Seattle, provided a detailed account and even drew a picture of the event. He described the objects as bright and colorful, hovering a few hundred feet above the ground. Despite observing the phenomenon for 30 minutes, no photographs or additional confirmations were available. While the description is vivid, it lacks the evidence needed to rule out conventional explanations.
