UFO over Joplin Missouri in 1962

Summary

In September 1962, a witness in Joplin, Missouri, observed three unidentified aerial objects for two hours. A large white object with two smaller ones trailing behind showed no trail or sound, and moved intermittently, coming closer and then retreating. The witness used binoculars and reported an elevation of 45 degrees, but no azimuth was recorded. The lack of precise information prevented a conclusive evaluation.

The U.S. Air Force documented the sighting as part of Project 10073, but concluded there was insufficient data to determine the nature of the objects. Although an astronomical phenomenon was considered, the absence of exact coordinates and additional details left the case unresolved.
