🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In September 1962, an Airman in Lamone, Missouri, reported seeing an oval-shaped object, approximately 20 to 25 feet long, white with black on the bottom. The object was silent and moved in a straight line from the southwest to the northeast, descending at an estimated altitude of 150 feet. The sighting lasted only five seconds, and the object disappeared behind trees. The report noted a full moon, which could have reflected light off an aircraft, but the observer was unsure of what he saw.
Investigators deemed the report vague and noted insufficient data for a conclusive analysis. There was speculation that the object might have been a C-46 aircraft taking off from Whiteman Air Force Base, located seven miles away. Despite detailed weather data and precise location information, no definitive explanation was reached. This case, like many others, highlights the challenge of distinguishing between natural phenomena, conventional objects, and the truly unexplained.
