Summary

In September 1962, multiple witnesses in Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, and Tennessee reported an unusual aerial phenomenon. Two bright, large objects were observed along with a strange glowing funnel-shaped cloud. The objects were above a luminous cloud and moving northeast. A pilot reported seeing a "super vapor trail" with an extremely bright light at its apex, similar to Jupiter, which lasted about 30 seconds before disappearing. Despite multiple sightings, no consensus was reached on the nature of the event. The Air Force concluded it could be a meteor or astronomical phenomenon, but other possibilities were not ruled out.
