🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In September 1962, a pilot and a combat officer in Minnesota spotted a bright object moving at an incredible speed. The object, described as a flashing star-like body blinking twice per second, was observed from an aircraft at 35,000 feet. The pilot, experienced with satellites, stated that this object was moving much faster than any he had previously seen. The object disappeared after one and a half minutes, maintaining a straight and steady course. Other aircraft intercepting the observer's plane were at lower altitudes and did not match the object's description.
The Air Force concluded the sighting was of an aircraft, though the report notes the speed exceeded that of a satellite. Witnesses insisted the object resembled an aircraft at 70,000 feet with a speed of Mach 3, considered unlikely at the time. Despite no photos or radar involvement, the case was evaluated as a conventional sighting, though other possibilities were not ruled out.
