In September 1962, multiple witnesses in New Jersey reported strange glowing objects in the sky with variable movements and colors. These sightings lasted about an hour and a half and prompted numerous calls to local authorities and media. Although initially puzzling, investigators concluded it was a thermal inversion. This atmospheric phenomenon reflected ground and aircraft lights, creating the illusion of unidentified flying objects. The scientific explanation helped clarify the situation and showed how optics and weather can create misleading sky perceptions.
