Summary

In October 1962, near Moses Lake in Washington, a UFO sighting was recorded that drew attention due to its unusual characteristics. Two oval-shaped objects with a reddish-orange hue appeared in the sky, one descending for 20 seconds and another appearing 60 seconds later without moving. Witnesses, military personnel from Larson AFB, described a clear and detailed experience, with an elevation of 30 degrees and a direction of 250 degrees. Although no photos were taken, local investigators concluded it was an auroral reflection. The atmospheric conditions of the time, including electrical storms and a visible aurora, supported this explanation. However, the coincidence with other sightings in Montana that same day added an air of mystery.

The official Air Force report classified it as an "auroral reflection," but did not completely rule out other possibilities. Checks were carried out with nearby power companies to rule out high-voltage discharges, and nothing suspicious was found. Despite the natural explanation, the case remains interesting due to the precision of the witnesses and the correlation with other UFO events in the region. This type of record, although inconclusive, is valuable for understanding how sightings were addressed during the Cold War era.
