🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In October 1962, an observer at Forbes AFB, Kansas, spotted a bright object resembling a meteor, but with an orange to yellow color. The object left a visible trail and made no sound. According to the report, its brightness was similar to that of an airplane at 30,000 feet. The object followed a curved path, varying in speed and disappearing after five minutes. Although initially considered a meteor, the final evaluation leaned toward an aircraft as the most likely explanation.
The observation was recorded by an Air Force personnel who saw the object from barracks 624 on base. Changes in the object's direction and speed were noted, and although meteoroids had already been seen in the area, this one appeared unusually bright. Weather conditions were favorable, with scattered clouds and good visibility. The report concluded that the observer's description was consistent with an aircraft, though the possibility of an unusual meteorite was not ruled out.
