🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In October 1962, a witness in Wells, Maine, observed an object that initially appeared to be a meteor with two tails. The object suddenly grew larger, took on a circular shape, and displayed bright points. Despite its meteor-like appearance, its unusual behavior included a persistent glowing trail and actions that puzzled the witness. The area dogs barked and howled, although the observer did not hear any sound.
The sighting lasted only 3 seconds, but the glowing trail remained visible for 5 to 8 minutes. The official report classified it as a possible meteor, but the witness raised questions about the object's nature, even suggesting the possibility of a disintegrating satellite. The detailed description and the animals' reactions add mystery to this unresolved case.
