In November or December 1962, an unusual aerial phenomenon was reported in Tanganyika. A group of people observed a cloud or smoke trail extending from the horizon to a point overhead, where it turned slightly east. The trail was accompanied by sound, but no object was visible. The smoke remained motionless and passed over a cloud. It was thought to be possibly caused by a rocket or a body reentering the atmosphere, but the turn could not be explained.
The official report classified it as a contrail, likely generated by an aircraft or rocket. However, the main witness, a man who mentions being slightly nearsighted, described in detail how the trail was not straight and curved eastward. Several witnesses, including local shopkeepers and clerks, confirmed the sighting. Despite no photos or radar data being involved, the collective testimony suggests something unusual occurred that Friday in the skies above Tanganyika.
