Summary

In November 1962, an officer aboard a ship in the Atlantic reported a very bright greenish object, roughly half the size of the moon. The object appeared at about 45 degrees elevation and descended in a straight line until it disappeared at around three degrees altitude, at which point it was described as the size of an orange. The sighting lasted about five seconds, and the weather conditions were ideal: clear skies, calm seas, and no wind. The official report classified the phenomenon as an astronomical meteor, ruling out other explanations such as balloons or aircraft. Despite the brief nature of the sighting, the second officer's account is detailed and precise.

The report, part of Project 10073, includes exact data such as the time (02:25 GMT), geographic location, and weather conditions. Although no photographs were taken, the civilian testimony is considered valid. The object was not intercepted or identified by radar, limiting possible explanations. The official report concludes it was a meteor, but the object's color and behavior remain intriguing for those investigating unexplained aerial phenomena.
