🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In November 1962, a U.S. Air Force officer reported an in-flight explosion at 25,000 feet over the Pacific. The incident was visually observed from an aircraft and described as an explosion accompanied by a cloud of white phosphorus smoke, with parts of the object falling into the ocean. Although no photos were taken, the source of the report was military, adding credibility to the account.
The official conclusion pointed to missile range activity in the Pacific, which would explain the explosion and the smoke. The report was shared with multiple government agencies, including the CIA and DIA, but no definitive identification of the object was reached. Despite the lack of images, the correlation with missile operations suggests it may have been a military test, although other possibilities were not ruled out.
