🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In November 1962, a witness in Madison, Tennessee, observed an unusual aerial phenomenon that lasted about 17 seconds. The object appeared as a very bright star, of magnitude -8, and then split into two smaller points of magnitude 3. As it moved south, the witness noted that it reflected light and did not appear self-luminous. The official report suggested it could have been a bright meteor, although the witness did not identify it as an aircraft. The detailed description and precise location of the event make this an interesting case for study.
The official 10073 project report concluded that the phenomenon was probably astronomical, specifically a meteor. However, the witness, an amateur astronomer and meteorologist, insisted he had never seen anything like it. The object moved rapidly, covering a 20-degree arc in 15 seconds, supporting the theory that it was a meteor. Despite official conclusions, the witness's description adds a touch of mystery to this classic UFO case.
