🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In November 1962, the crew of a merchant vessel reported seeing a bright red object breaking up. The sighting occurred at coordinates 11°59'N 160°49'W, about 20 degrees above the horizon. Although the object appeared to be falling, no duration was reported and no photographs were taken. Researchers considered the possibility of a decaying satellite or a bolide, but there was not enough data to reach a definitive conclusion.
The lack of precise information and the inability to confirm the object's nature led to the case being classified as "insufficient for evaluation." The report reached the U.S. Air Force, but no conclusive determination was made. Cases like this, though incomplete, are valuable for understanding how sightings were documented at the time.
