Summary

On December 3, 1962, an object was visually observed entering the atmosphere near the coordinates 64.45N 29.45W in the Atlantic. The object was seen trailing fire and moving westward at an unknown speed. During the observation, it broke into several pieces and eventually disappeared. Although balloon and aircraft possibilities were considered, the object was ultimately classified as an astronomical meteor. However, its unusual westward trajectory raised some doubts about the conclusion.

The sighting was recorded under Project 10073, a military system for reporting unidentified objects. The case was shared with multiple agencies and departments, as indicated by the numerous message copies. Despite being ruled a meteor, the lack of precise data and the unexpected direction of the object left some lingering questions.
