Summary

In January 1963, two airline employees on the island of Mayaguana, Bahamas, observed a luminous object moving at high speed. The object, described as a bright point of light similar to a star, was seen for four minutes and estimated to be at an altitude of about five miles. Its speed was calculated to be around 2500 miles per hour, far exceeding any known aircraft of the time. The object was heading east, slightly south, and disappeared over the horizon without a trace. Although NORAD and ADC ruled out known satellites, the incident could not be confirmed due to lack of additional data.

The absence of electronic interference and the inability to correlate the sighting with missile or satellite launches left the case unresolved. The official conclusion was that there was insufficient information to evaluate the event. Despite considering the possibility of a meteorite, no evidence supported it. This case, like many others, was filed under "insufficient data," a reminder of the many mysteries still surrounding UFO sightings.
