In 1954, multiple sightings of unidentified flying objects were reported across Europe, including Norway, Germany, Switzerland, and France. A notable case occurred in Stavern, Norway, where 50 officers and soldiers observed a round or slightly elliptical object moving silently at supersonic speeds. In West Berlin, witnesses reported daily sightings of "flying saucers" between 22:00 and 23:00 hours. In Darmstadt, Germany, three fiery yellowish-red objects were seen for about an hour and a half, and in Switzerland, even members of the Air Force reported sightings. These events, though unexplained, generated interest and concern at the time.
The sightings were not limited to Europe. In Africa, luminous objects were reported over the Congo and Rhodesia, with descriptions similar to those in Europe. In Lyon, an object shaped like a cigar emitted sparks, and in Vernon, France, a witness described a cigar-shaped object from which several flying saucers detached. Despite the variety of testimonies, no conventional explanation was offered, and the reports remained officially unverified. These cases reflect the widespread geographic distribution and mysterious nature of UFO sightings in the 1950s.
