🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In January 1963, a witness in Ludlow, Massachusetts, reported an object that varied in brightness and disappeared after 12 minutes. The object was first observed at 30 degrees elevation and 135 degrees azimuth, then rose to 80 degrees elevation and 90 degrees azimuth. Its blinking light and fading nature caused uncertainty about its identity.
Authorities considered several possibilities, including balloons, aircraft, and astronomical phenomena, but there was insufficient data for a definitive conclusion. Comments suggest the object behaved like a balloon, with an upward motion and duration consistent with that explanation. However, it was also noted that a T-33 could not have caused the sighting due to the takeoff direction and traffic pattern.
