🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In January 1963, a pilot reported an object in the Atlantic that showed satellite-like characteristics. The sighting occurred at 18:27 UTC on January 30, near the coordinates 60.37N 11.02W. The object was seen for four minutes, moving from left to right at an unknown altitude, but at 15 degrees above the horizon. The pilot described it as possibly a satellite, though no photos or radar data were obtained. The report concluded it was likely a satellite visible to the naked eye, such as ECHO.
The official report classified the event as having satellite characteristics, without ruling out other possibilities. Although no definitive confirmation was reached, the available data pointed to a natural explanation. However, the fact that it was officially recorded and shared with multiple military divisions reflects the interest of the time in unexplained aerial phenomena. This case is an example of how UFO reports were handled back then, with a mix of technical analysis and caution.
