🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In March 1963, two military officers observed an object with an orange flame and a white flash near San Diego. The sighting occurred at night, at around 8500 feet altitude, when the object appeared from the northwest and made a sharp turn before rapidly climbing above 25000 feet. Although no photos were taken, the observers, considered highly reliable, described the object in detail. The pilot noted that the flame's characteristics indicated a rocket engine rather than a jet engine.
The investigation concluded that the object might be related to an Atlas rocket launch from Vandenberg. Although no unusual flight patterns were found in radar data, the involved officers agreed that the object's description aligned with known space activity. This case, though not definitively resolved, shows how UFO sightings often find explanations once available data is analyzed.
