🇺🇸 CIA
In 1954, the CIA collected several reports of unidentified flying object (UFO) sightings across Europe and Africa. In France, two residents of Saint Mexant observed a cone-shaped object with red and green lights, while in the Pyrenees a cigar-shaped object was seen moving rapidly at high altitude. In Sweden and northern Norway, witnesses described bright silver spheres with tails and triangular formations, raising questions about their nature. In Algeria, multiple sightings in a single day included objects with smoke trails and rectangular shapes, observed for over 30 minutes. These cases, though not officially evaluated, reflect early concerns about unexplained aerial phenomena.
The CIA reports, gathered from newspapers and news agencies, highlight the variety of descriptions and the coincidence of dates and locations. In northern Norway, officials and civilians observed objects in a V-formation, appearing red and white with a rotating motion. In British Malaya, harbor workers saw a cigar-shaped object with a white trail, and weeks later another similar object was reported in multiple towns. Although in some cases conventional explanations like weather balloons or aircraft were ruled out, most sightings lacked a clear resolution. These documents, though fragmented and with OCR errors, are a valuable record of how UFO curiosity was already present over half a century ago.
