🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In April 1963, an Australian Airlines Qantas flight reported an object that appeared to be a satellite. The aircraft was located at 02°N 168.37°W, with the object seen 20 degrees above the horizon. The report, filed under Project 10073, included no photos or radar data. The only relevant detail was that the object was observed at a magnetic bearing of 260 degrees from the aircraft. Although balloon and aircraft explanations were considered, the object was ultimately classified as a satellite. However, no official confirmation was provided.
The report was shared with multiple military and intelligence agencies, including CINCPAC and CINCNORAD. Despite the wide distribution of the case, no additional data confirmed the object's nature. This sighting, like many others from the era, remains unexplained, adding to the file of mysterious aerial observations from the 20th century.
