🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In 1963, a civilian in Kettering, Ohio, reported a bright object in the sky that was classified as the ECHO I satellite. The sighting occurred at 21:00 local time and lasted between 3 and 5 minutes. The witness described it as an extremely bright point, similar to a star, moving southeast. Due to its timing and trajectory, the U.S. Air Force concluded it was the ECHO I satellite. Although no photos or additional witnesses were involved, the case was considered resolved. The object showed no unusual behavior, supporting the satellite explanation.
The Air Force technical form includes detailed questions about the observation, such as duration, direction, and weather conditions. The witness did not report any changes in the object or sound, which supports the theory of a satellite. Despite the lack of conclusive evidence, the most logical explanation was accepted. This case reflects how the Air Force handled sightings during the Cold War, favoring known technological explanations.
