🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In April 1963, an observer in Pearl Beach, Michigan reported an object in the sky seen through a telescope. The object was moving northeast with a magnitude of -2 and an apparent size of between 1/15 and 1/20 of a degree. It was observed for four minutes and four "satellites" were noted, later determined to be reflectors on weather balloons. The report concluded the object was likely a balloon or an astronomical phenomenon, not a UFO.
The report includes several possible interpretations, such as a balloon, an aircraft, or an astronomical object. However, investigators concluded the object was most likely a weather balloon, specifically a Rawinsonde, launched from Green Bay or Flint. The main witness was contacted by phone, and it was acknowledged that the initial confusion about the "satellites" was due to a misinterpretation of the balloon's reflectors. The report did not obtain sufficient data for a definitive evaluation.
