🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In June 1963, a 47-year-old farmer in Versailles, Missouri, observed a white round object in the sky. The witness saw it through binoculars at dusk, with some daylight still visible. The object would brighten and then dim, moving in an irregular pattern with speed changes and zigzagging. It remained visible for 20 minutes at an estimated altitude above 60,000 feet. The description and behavior of the object led investigators to conclude it was likely a weather balloon with a light. The report was received by letter and confirmed with a phone call, and the official evaluation classified it as consistent with a balloon.
