🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1963, a photographer in Plainview, Long Island, captured an image he believed represented a UFO. He used a 3-inch telescope and a camera mounted on a 1.5-inch finder. After developing the photos, he noticed a mysterious figure that intrigued him enough to contact authorities. The image, taken around 5:45 p.m., was analyzed by Air Force experts.
The analysis concluded that the main object was a lens flare caused by interreflection between lens surfaces. Other marks in the image were attributed to water spots and scratches on the negative. Although the photographer hoped for a more supernatural explanation, the results showed no evidence of an unexplained phenomenon. The case resolution was clear and technical, leaving no room for speculation.
