UFO over Lompoc California July 1963

Summary

A witness in Lompoc, California, saw an egg-shaped object the size of a nickel at five feet in height. It was shiny, silent, and stationary at 45 degrees above the horizon. The observer stopped their car and watched for 10 minutes. The object appeared to be over Vandenberg Air Force Base, to the north of the observer. No local radar detected it, and it was no longer visible 30 minutes later. Despite its strange appearance, investigators concluded it was likely a balloon. There were no UFO reports from the area, supporting the theory of a local or base-launched balloon.
