🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1963, a witness in Englewood, Ohio, observed a bright object in the southwest sky. The object was described as white, flashing with a red light, and behaving like a moving star. The observation lasted about 10 minutes, and the object remained in the same position throughout. The witness estimated it to be at around 30 degrees elevation, and the weather was hazy with fog. Despite its star-like appearance, it did not match any known celestial bodies in the area. Investigators concluded it could be a sighting of the star Antares, though other possibilities were not ruled out.
The object showed no apparent movement, raising questions about its nature. It was considered possibly a balloon or an astronomical phenomenon, but no definitive conclusions were reached. The description, along with environmental conditions, suggested it was neither an airplane nor a known satellite. Although no photographs or additional data were obtained, the observation was recorded as part of Project 10073, a U.S. Army effort to investigate unidentified aerial phenomena.
