🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In August 1963, an object was observed for over an hour in Valparaíso, Chile. Witnesses, including members of the local Astronomical Society and Chilean military personnel, described an incandescent body making circular orbits in the sky. The light reached extremely bright magnitudes, even surpassing that of the sun at times. Despite the duration and precision of the observations, the object was not identified as a balloon, aircraft, or astronomical phenomenon.
The official conclusion pointed to a NASA DC-4 aircraft, which was performing maneuvers to calibrate the tracking system of a space station in the region. This aircraft carried an extremely bright light, pulsed by radio signals, similar to that of artificial satellites. Although observers confirmed no other aircraft were in the area, there were minor discrepancies in measurements due to differences in instruments and locations. Ultimately, NASA acknowledged that the light observed was from the aircraft, solving the UFO mystery.
