Summary

In August 1963, an unusual aerial observation was reported in the Australian region of Turner River Station. A witness described an explosion in the upper atmosphere that shook buildings. A smoke screen was observed, and from Ord River, two other witnesses described a silver object leaving a smoke trail. The object emitted an orange-colored fireball, with a silver streak visible for 3-4 seconds, a flash for 2-3 seconds, and a smoke or vapor trail lasting a minute. Although the possibility of a satellite decay was considered, no definitive conclusion was reached.
